“Wishes” do come true!
There are moments in life, when you stand speechless. Moments that while you are in them, your hair stands on end and afterward, you look around and think, “Did that just happen!?” For example, Cinderella when she thought back on the ball. As the fireworks spectacular “Wishes” comes to a close at the Magic Kingdom, I thought it might be fun to share memories of “Wishes”!
In April 2014, it had been about 14 years since I had been to Disney. My friend was living in Orlando at the time and graciously invited me for a visit.
We met up, and headed straight for the Magic Kingdom. We had dinner with Pooh and Friends at The Crystal Palace and, as if that wasn’t enough, after riding rides and taking in sights it was time for fireworks!
My friend expertly guided me to her favorite viewing spot and although there were thousands of people in the park with us, when Jiminy Cricket’s voice filled the air, it was as if it were just my friend and I standing there. It was breathtaking!
At the time “Frozen” fever had just erupted throughout the world. Anna and Elsa were everywhere and, at least in my car, “Let it Go” was on repeat! The park was abuzz during “Wishes” that night, as we journeyed through all the classic movie wishes. When Elsa appeared on Cinderella Castle, time stood still. As the “snow started to blow wild on the mountain that night”, the entire park, people from all over the world stood there around me, and in unison we all sang every word of “Let it go.” It was a truly magical experience. You could actually hear the crowd singing over the music of the show! My hair stood on end and it’s one of my favorite memories to this day! A fantastic memory to start a great trip!
The next year when I saw “Wishes” again I thought the same thing would happen, but the atmosphere was completely different. Proving once again that, Disney World is ever changing and always a new experience!
Do you have a favorite “Wishes” memory? Feel free to share it in the comments!
I hope all your wishes come true!

My favorite Wishes was in 2014. I was stnding by the rocks where Tink flys over. A Grandma and Grandpa of a three year old were standing next to me and we started talking Grandparent stories. I found out that their Grandaughters favorite was TinkerBell. She was off with Mom and Dad. I told them we were standing under where Tink would fly over and they should get their grandaughter there soon. They got her there about two minutes before she flew over us. She was just ecstatic and both Grandma and Grandpa were crying. Providing a Magical Moment was my greatest Wishes Memory.
That is a wonderful “Wishes” memory Sandy! To be able to make a Magical Moment for someone else is so nice and I’m sure those grandparents will never forget that. Love stories like this 🙂 Thank you for sharing!
My wife and myself were Grand marshals on our 30th wedding anniversary at MGM October 1st (1971) 2001. We’ll never forget that wonderful time we had
Thats a great memory, Sandy!
Thanks so much for sharing! It’s so awesome that one show can create so many different memories. 🙂
Mine is pretty simple. In 2014, I went to Disney as an adult. The last time I went was 36 years prior. I was there with my mother & my oldest adult daughter. It was pouring rain that night at MK. All three of us were standing there so greatful to be there together & experience the full magic. We were all crying, tears of happiness. We went 8 months later and we are going again in 1 month! I am also in the middle of purchasing DVC. I will never wait 36 years again!
That’s such a sweet story! Thank you for sharing Holi 🙂
Congratulations on becoming a DVC member!
Easy question. We went to Disney for our honeymoon in 2003. We were literally married two days when we went to the Magic Kingdom for the first time. First thing we did is get the bride and groom Mickey and Minnie ears then off we went. Come three in the afternoon,we were beat so we sat on Mainstreet waiting for the parade, and the place got packed The barber shop quartet say us, stopped in front of us and sang “When you wish upon a star.” The perfect song for the moment and Cinderella castle as the background. And that’s what sets Disney apart from the rest.
That is a great Disney memory Harry! Love the Dapper Dans Thanks for sharing it with us!
