Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the most anticipated new lands to open and the anticipation is growing. So when Disney releases new information about the new land it creates even more excitement.
Recently, Disney announced new details which give fans a better idea of what to expect when it opens. This announcement includes updates about the food and drinks that will be offered, as well as more information about the design of the land itself.
The Land
Disney gives the backstory for the whole area, a planet called Batuu, explaining it as being “located along the galaxy’s Outer Rim on the fringe of Wild Space.” On this planet, guests will see characters like Rey, Finn, Poe Dameron, BB-8, and Chewbacca, as they explore the area.
There will be two entry points in Hollywood Studios for this area. The paths leading to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge are designed to shrink and expand views of the new land. The idea is that this is like a movie that fades out and back in, which gives the guests a cinematic view.
The Rides
Both rides sound like fun. Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run will give guests the chance to be in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon and take control of the famous ship. This is sure to be a favorite ride!

The second attraction is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. This will take guests on an adventure that will have them joining in a battle against the First Order and even includes an encounter with Kylo Ren! One of the coolest things on this ride are the huge AT-ATs that guests will ride by, and it’s sure to be a pretty impressive part of the ride.

The Food
Up until this point we haven’t heard too much about the food, so this was exciting to read. First, there will be multiple places to grab food and drinks throughout the new land. Olga’s Cantina, Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo, Ronto Roasters’, the Milk Stand, and Kat Saka’s Kettle. Each location will offer different food and drink that is themed to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge.
Olga’s Cantina
Ogla’s Cantina will offer both alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks to guests. These drinks will have fun names that are clearly themed after the movie franchise. Olga’s will also have some entertainment for guests, a DJ called DJ R-3X. The DJ was previously known as Captain Rex who was the Starspeeder 3000 pilot droid from Star Tours. Love how Disney is tying that ride into the new land!

Kat Saka’s Kettle
Looking for a quick snack? This is your stop. At this location guests will find the Outpost Mix. This is a popcorn snack that combines savory, spicy, and sweet flavors.
Shopping
There will be a few different places to shop. Two different stores to choose from show which cause you support. One shows support to the Resistance and one shows loyalty to the First Order. Where will you be shopping?
At Resistance Supply guests will be able to purchase things like badges, hats, pins, and other accessories that fit the theme. First Order Cargo is where guests will be able to purchase items themed to showing loyalty to the First Order. Items for sale include caps, gear, model ships, pins, and more.
Another store, called Savi’s Workshop, gives guests the opportunity to build their own lightsabers. The kyber crystal is at the heart of every saber and during the guided tour guests will choose from four different options. The options are: Peace Justice (modeled after Jedi from the Republic era), Power Control (a nod to the Sith), Elemental Nature (air, earth, fire, and water), and Defense (shrouded in mystery).
Dok-Ondar’s Den of Antiquities will give guests the chance to see mysterious and rare items for sale. These items are representative of the different eras from the movie franchise, so ancient Jedi and Sith artifacts are included. You will even be able to see Dok at his desk. He’ll be checking inventory, taking calls, and giving orders to his assistants.
Finally, the Droid Depot, which is located in the market, will invite guests to pick parts and pieces off of a conveyer belt and build their astromech droids (R-series or BB-series). These droids can interact and respond to guests’ behaviors, how cool is that?! There is an option to add programming chips and accessories to the droids to customize their abilities even more. Prebuilt droids, including a C-3PO, will also be available for guests to purchase. In addition to the droids there will also be droid-inspired products for purchase.

With all of this info the anticipation is certainly growing. Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is scheduled to open this June in Disneyland and sometime in the fall in Disney World. We still don’t have exact opening dates, but we will keep you updated as more information is released.
