Part of Disney’s celebration of May the 4th included an announcement about the Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser. This is the highly anticipated, all-immersive, two-night vacation experience that Disney has been talking about for a while now.
One big announcement that came today is that this experience will open in 2022. There wasn’t a timeline or an idea of when in 2022 it will open, but at least we know it will open next year. Another big reveal involves a video showing what looks like a real working lightsaber.
You can see in the video above that it looks like it really does expand and retract from the hilt, which is pretty cool. This new lightsaber was created by the talented people at Walt Disney Imagineering Research and Development, and was created for this new experience. So guests who book a stay with the Galactic Starcruiser will be some of the first to see this new lightsaber in action.
This experience will truly be all-immersive. When guests first arrive they’ll enter a Launch Pod that will make a hyperspace jump to where they will board the Halcyon starcruiser. This is where guests will spend the next two nights. Different characters will be onboard for guests to interact throughout their stay, adding to the all-immersive feeling.
Guests will dine at the Crown of Corellia Dining Room, which will serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Corellia is the planet where the Halcyon and the Millennium Falcon originated.
Have you always wanted to train with a lightsaber? Onboard the Halcyon guests will have the chance to train in the ancient ways of the lightsaber, which is sure to be a popular part of this whole experience.
Guests who book this experience will also learn about the inner workings of the Halcyon starcruiser and they’ll visit Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. There’s a lot that will go along with booking this 2-night experience! It sounds as though guests are going to really feel as though they are part of the story. It’s definitely different from the Disney hotel experience we’ve come to know, but it sounds like fun!
More information about this experience will be released throughout the year and I’ll update as it’s released. This is sure to be a popular option to book once reservations open!
