During the D23 event this weekend there were some announcements about Animal Kingdom. The park has some fun rides coming, as well as the return of a feature of a popular ride.
Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto
This is one of the new attractions that will be in the new land, Tropical Americas. The premise of this attraction is that guests are joining the celebration for Antonio’s gift day. After guests enter Casita they’ll board a ride vehicle that looks like pieces of furniture that Casita put together. The ride takes guests through the house, eventually ending up in Antonio’s room, which looks like a rainforest and is home to more than 50 animals. One more important piece of information, this ride will have no height requirement, so everyone in the family can enjoy it.

Some of the actors from the original movie have come back to voice their characters on the ride. So guests will definitely recognize the voices for Mirabel, Isabela, and Luisa, who they will hear during the ride.
El Carrusel De Los Animalitos
This is another ride that anyone in the family can ride in Tropical Americas. The carousel is animal themed and has hand-carved animals. Guests can choose from 22 of these hand-carved animal figures that are from Disney and Pixar stories.

Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent
Also being built in the Tropical Americas area is the new Indiana Jones Ride, which guests will enter through a temple. In the building they will board the ride vehicle to join Indy on his journey through this temple and beyond. Under the temple Indy takes guests on an exploration of a cave that used to be filled with water, which is called a cenote. The story is that the passage leads to the Maya Underworld, which is protected by the Tsukán, a serpent like creature.

When guests are pulled through a portal to the Underworld that’s when things get kicked up a notch. Guests will now be dodging monstrous bats, huge scorpions, fire and flame, and snakes (of course). The Tsukán appears several times throughout the ride as an audio-animatronic that is towering. So if you have a fear of snakes, you have been warned.
A fun fact about this ride, this is the first time the animatronic will be modeled after Harrison Ford himself. He made a video for D23 thanking fans of the movie and then making the announcement about being the model for the animatronic Indy.
Return of the Yeti
This is a big one. The Yeti on Expedition Everest broke about a year after the ride opened in 2006. Since then the Yeti has been still with Disney using strobe lights trying to make it appear that it’s moving. So there have been many, many people who have ridden this ride and never seen the Yeti move. It seems like such a small announcement, but there is a lot of excitement around it. It’s going to be nice to see the Yeti actually moving. There was no announcement of when the repairs will begin, but I’ll keep an eye out for that information.
Are you excited for everything coming to Animal Kingdom?
Thanks for reading!
