News broke today of a change to a very popular Disney attraction. In fact, it’s the attraction that was the last to have its construction overseen by Walt Disney himself.
Pirates of the Caribbean has always been thought of as special by fans, because it was the last one to involve Walt. It’s had its changes over the years, but this one seems to be upsetting people quite a bit.
Disney Parks Blog announced today that one of the scenes will be replaced with a redesigned scene. The bride auction scene with the famous redhead will be replaced and the redhead will be given pirate status. In the new scene, according to the artist’s rendering, she will be helping to collect valuables from the townspeople.
The removal of the classic scene has upset a lot of people, but others see the change as a good thing. Whichever side of the debate you fall on, I’m just glad that the song will remain the same.
The planned refurb for Pirates of the Caribbean in Disney World will not happen until for a while, the article says it will reopen in 2018. So you have plenty of time to get to the park and enjoy the ride as it is now.
What’s your favorite part of Pirates of the Caribbean?

The drunk pirate with the cats…..
Hearing the music and the smell of PoC when you first walk through the doors into the attraction. It has become a family tradition over the years that PoC is the first ride we do on our WDW visits.
Love hearing things like that! Splash Mountain is my traditional first ride when I go to MK. I agree with the music and smell of PoC when your first walk in. 🙂
