It’s #HalfwaytoHalloween and Disney is celebrating with some spooky fun today. Included in that fun is a special announcement about Disney’s After Hours events.
Starting August 10 and running until October 31, guests can purchase special event tickets for “Disney After Hours BOO BASH” at Magic Kingdom. The event runs from 9 pm to midnight most nights, some nights in August and September will be from 9:30 pm – 12:30 am. Like any of Disney’s special events, there will be lots of fun things to see and experience. When guests purchase a ticket they will be able to enter the park as earl as 7 pm without having to buy a regular park admission ticket.
While this isn’t Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party, guests may still dress in costume and Disney will be giving out candy, just like at the Halloween party. When planning your costume keep in mind that costume masks can only be worn by children younger than 14. You can check costume guidelines and Disney’s Know Before You Go page for more information.

About the Event
Disney has been doing these After Hours events for a few years now. The number of tickets is very limited, which gives those attending the event easy access to rides. The first After Hours event I attended was at Magic Kingdom and the biggest thing I remember is being able to ride Seven Dwarfs Mine Train twice in less than half an hour. The same thing happened at the Hollywood Studios After Hours event with Slinky Dog Dash. My friend and I were able to get on the ride multiple times with no wait times, it was great! The fact that the lines for rides are almost non-existent is a big draw, because guests can ride their favorite rides over and over. Plus, the picture opportunities are great because there are less people in the pictures.
In addition to the above perks that come with an After Hours ticket, there is usually unlimited free popcorn, ice cream, and bottled drinks (non-alcoholic) available at carts throughout the park. That is not mentioned in the announcement or on the event page on Disney’s website, but hopefully that will make a return. It’s nice to have some free food and drinks available, because it makes the price of the ticket seem a little more worth it.
Tickets are not on sale yet, they go on sale next month, so you have time to decide if you want to purchase tickets. I’m not seeing a price per ticket listed yet. However, in the past the tickets were the same price for kids and adults. If you are on a budget, but would like to do this After Hours event, you can replace a park day with these tickets. You’ll be surprised how much you can get done in 3 hours at Magic Kingdom when the tickets are so limited.
I’ll keep an eye out for the opening date to purchase tickets and price details. I’m curious if these are going to be around the same price as they were in the past, which was around $130 per adult/child. So it’s definitely not inexpensive, but if it’s something you can budget for it’s worth it.
While this may not be the return of the Halloween party, I’m glad to see that we’re getting some kind of Halloween fun at Magic Kingdom. What do you think of this announcement? Have you been to an After Hours event before?
