This is the update everyone has been waiting for, the new park reservation system. Disney has released information on how this system will work.
Guests will need a My Disney Experience account and a valid theme park ticket or Annual Pass linked to the account. The linked ticket will allow guests to make park reservations by picking from a calendar of available reservation dates. Family and friends will still be able to make plans together, so you will be able to link tickets together and arrange theme park entries for the same days.
Guests who have a multi-day ticket will be required to make a park reservation for each date of the visit. In addition, guests will only be allowed to visit one park per day for the initial reopening, so there will be no park hopping. Guests who have purchased tickets with the Park Hopper or Park Hopper Plus options can make ticket modifications and cancellations. The Park Hopper and Park Hopper Plus options will be available for 2021 ticket purchases.
Existing Ticket Holders & Annual Passholders
Disney will being reaching out to existing ticket holders and Annual Passholders soon. They will discuss when the guest will be able to check availability to make park reservations. The Disney Park Pass system will be open to these guests in phases. The first phase includes guests who have future Disney Resort and other select hotel stays. Ticket sales for 2020 and Disney Resort arrivals are expected to resume later this summer, but that is base on the availability of park reservations.
- June 22: The Disney Park Pass system will open to guests with a Disney Resort hotel reservation and valid theme park admission (this includes Annual Passes). Tickets must be linked on My Disney Experience to make park reservations.
- June 26: Disney will open the Disney Park Pass system to Annual Passholders.
- June 28: The Disney Park Pass system will open to other existing ticket holders.
- June 28: New Disney Resort hotel packages and theme park tickets will be available for purchase and booking for 2021.
For those buying tickets in the future, you will be able to check park availability before you purchase tickets. This includes purchases for 2021, so it sounds like this new system is sticking around for a bit.
