The Disney Skyliner has reopened today after being closed for a little over a week. It closed due to an accident that happened on October 5 and stranded guests for more than three hours. Disney shut the Skyliner down and resumed testing to figure why the accident happened.
Disney explained that they consulted with the manufacturer in order to make the necessary changes to their process and training. They also mentioned that they will be improving the communication with guests while they are on the Disney Skyliner. Lack of communication was one of the big complaints from people who were stuck on the Skyliner. They felt that Disney did not communicate with them and they had no idea what was going on.
There will be some modifications to the operating hours later this week so Disney can update the system. Keep these modified hours in mind if you plan on riding the Skyliner this week.
Disney Skyliner Modified Hours
- October 16 the
- Hollywood Studios: Closed
- The other two lines will be available from 1 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
- October 17-18
- All the Skyliner lines will be operating from 1 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.
These statements are from Disney Parks Blog regarding the accident on October 5:
Following a complete review with the manufacturer, we’ve made adjustments to our processes and training, and we are improving how we communicate with guests during their flight with Disney Skyliner. We again offer our deepest apologies to the guests impacted by the malfunction that resulted in extended operating delays on Oct. 5.
Similar to ski lift systems, Disney Skyliner may slow or come to some stops during the ride, particularly when we need to accommodate guests who require additional time to load their cabin. We want to assure you that the comfort of every guest is important to us.
Will you ride the Disney Skyliner during your next Disney World vacation?
